I've read many books on leadership, but this is definitely the best one for those emerging leaders leading from the middle of organizations. It's insightful and full on great advise as to how to handle almost every situation the middle leader encounters.
The self-assessment and companion workbook are invaluable tools for targeting specific areas which need further development or strengthening existing talents.
You will develop your power to influence people up, across and down in your organization. These techniques are easily adaptable to your personal life as well as your volunteer activities. I would recommend it to everyone who wants to improve and develop their powers of influence.

The 360 Degree Leader has some valuable insight into leadership from anywhere in any organization. Let's face it, even on the bottom we aren't alone and leading at the bottom is still leading. Everyone, everywhere has an opportunity to influence and lead others and doing so may all the difference in the lives of those around us.
Have you ever been "downsized" or found yourself starting over in the work world? Having been a leader in both the non profit area and in business, I've found it tough to have to start over. I find the 360 Degree Leader to be valuable in facing the re-start with dignity and purpose.
If you want to increase your value to your organization, and co-workers, take a look through The 360 Degree Leader. Internalizing even one component of Maxwell's leadership strategies will affect great change.
Great book for anybody in a leadership position May 15, 2008
I highly recommend this product to anybody in a leadership role. Especially middle managers. This book touches on so many great points. If you're a middle manager, you will actually grow from reading this book. For someone in my position, it was a great book and refresher on how people respond to leadership...and what type of outlook, and mentality to have when developing your subordinates....great great book.
