 Nicaea Proof? January 7, 2009
What I found most uncomfortable about this book is how it is written from the point of view of one man who uses a wide net of many so-called scriptural passages (some theologians might seriously object to some of the paraphrased passages Warren tosses in this self-help salad).
While I believe the book was well-intentioned, it seemed far to surface level for a mature person contemplating deeper purpose. I also had an odd idea around the middle of the book that this kind of text would have been the kind of thing circulated in the early centuries of the Christian faith and likely would not have made a passing grade at the Council of Nicaea. A bit too much Warrenese.

This book should be read as a daily study guide. Great information and very encouraging to help someone find their purpose in life.
Thoughtful meditations December 29, 2008
If you've ever felt as though you were an accident, this is the book to read. Everything about you has been planned before your birth, including your genetic makeup.
Why? Because God wants "YOU." You are created to fill a very specific place in His universe.
There are 40 daily readings to inspire and comfort you; to help you grow spiritually.
I recommend it. I may not agree with 100% of Rick Warren's theology, but there is a lot of good in this book.
Remarkable book December 28, 2008
This book "The Purpose-Driven Life", by Rick Warren helps the reader become more devoted to his Christian God. It creates the desire to worship God through a 40-day immersion plan. I certainly hope people follow this plan and learn the joys of getting close to God.
I see from reading the reviews on this site some people have recommend my book, "The Enlightenment, What God Told Me After One Million Prayers: A Message for Everyone," and again I just want them to know how much I appreciate their recommendation, especially at such a excellent site. I wrote this book out of love and for the glory of God and Jesus, not for my own fame or fortune. I welcome people to read my book, I'm sure you'll find this non-fiction account of a loving God just as positive and inspiring.
Rick Warren has got it together December 28, 2008
I have had this book for about 2 years now, and I keep it by my bedstand. I have hated all those self-help books out there who say if you just do xyz, your life will change. There is a new one out every other week, and most of it is just nonsense. I want something real. I want the TRUTH. Give me the real deal.
But this book is different. Rick Warren says it is not all about YOU. Your life is about God. We were created by God and for God, and as soon as we realize that, our lives will be changed forever.
I have been a Christian my entire life, and I still was able to learn a lot from this book. It grounds me. It gives me purpose. Faith gives us purpose and peace, and those who walk in faith, will continue to walk in the light. Go Rick Warren!
