2 out of 5 stars Weak Characterization...Correct That! No Characterization!   November 13, 2008
Wow, it shocks me that this book received so many good reviews. I ended up putting it down after about 130 pages because the book had absolutely NO characterization. Each character was a stick figure, very one-dimensional. All I knew was their name and occupation. How am I supposed to sympathize or like these characters that way? It also was confusing to have two main characters with very similiar names (Allie and Aggie). I also was confused by all the characters introduced throughout and the purpose for them. There were multiple meaningless chapters with just people gossiping...why? What new information does that reveal? This is the first Blackstock book I've read. Are all her characters so one-dimensional?! If so, this will be the last one I read.

5 out of 5 stars Shadow of Doubt   May 6, 2007
Terri Blackstock is a wonderful Christian author. Her stories are cleanly written, gripping and inspiring. They give Glory and Honor to our Lord. I thank Him for His gift to this author!

5 out of 5 stars Another great Terri Blackstock novel and series   January 30, 2006

Ms. Blackstock's works--her plots, woven with mystery and faith, her interesting characters, et al--are always first rate. "Shadow of a Doubt," "Word of Honor," and "Trial by Fire" are no exceptions. These books, along with "Private Justice" and "Line of Duty," comprise her five-volume 'NEWPOINT 911' series... a series which will entertain and inspire readers. Highly recommended! --RON HOWE (a.k.a. Toby Martin II)

4 out of 5 stars A Good Follow-up   September 6, 2005

Well, Terri Blackstock has done it again. She definitely had alot to live up to due to her amazing series beginner. I was anxious to read this book because the first had the relationship between the two subcharacters, Jill and Dan. I had also seen anlot of Stan Shepard from the first. Ceila's character made me wonder some, but she won me over by her sweet compasion and her quirky aunt. This is definitley a good book and should be read by any suspense~romance avid readers.

5 out of 5 stars A wonderful Story   May 2, 2005

The story begins in Celia and Stan Shepherd's house on Mill Street in a small city named Newpointe. The day had gone along just as every other day except for the fact that during the night Stan had a horrible stomach ache and was terribly dizzy.
The doctor's do lab work on Stan's blood and they see that he has been poisoned by arsenic. Celia is traumatized and becomes very quiet. When questioned it comes to the front that her previous husband was poisoned the same way and he died. However, she had been the one who had been tried and came very close to being convicted. Fortunately the charges were dropped when one of the lawyers went a little too far and started to sound biased.
Throughout this whole story Celia is trying to put her life back together and she is trying to keep her world from falling down. Her friends and even some of her closest family members turn their backs on her. It seems to her as if someone is trying to sabotage her and trying to make her look very much like the killer. The police officers are convinced that she is the murderer and so are many readers. Throughout the whole story different things are happening and it seems as if every minute something new is happening. As different people are introduced into the story it seems as if the suspects change so you never really know who did it.
The ending is extremely surprising and many other readers agree with me.
